La Paz

La Paz deserves its name; It stands with grace on a wide bay of the Sea of Cortez. The Malecon follows the shoreline throughout the city, flanked by a parade of coco palm trees, Victorian benches, the beach and the sea.

The Malecón, a palm-lined sea wall, is the place to take in the breeze after sunset. There are miles of beaches north of the city and three undeveloped islands open to kayakers, divers, fishermen and sailors. The whales swim by in February, the dolphins in summer.
